Dorothy G. Dimmock's Obituary
Dorothy (Gunther) Dimmock, 100, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2024 at Woodlake at Tolland. She was born in Rockville, CT, daughter of the late Charles and Edith (West) Gunther. Dorothy graduated from UConn in 1946 with a bachelor’s degree in education, and then married Ernest L. Dimmock, Jr. in 1950. She spent 40 years as a teacher and department head in home economics at Glastonbury High School. She was an 86 year member of the United Congregational Church of Tolland, having joined in 1938, and she sang in the choir for many years as well. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Hope Chapter #60 since 1955, and was the past Grand Organist for the CT Order of the Eastern Star. Dorothy had also been a member of the Tolland Grange since 1942, an honorary member of the Glastonbury FFA, and longtime member of Mystic River Marina Powerboating with her late husband. Dorothy is survived by her nieces and nephews; Ellen G. Rodzen and her husband Thomas, Jean M. Nemeth and her husband Marc, Charles R. Gunther and his wife Kelley, Doris G. Ostrowski and her husband Mark, Patricia G. Auclair and her husband Mark, and Frederick G. Gunther and his wife Jayne; her great nieces and great nephews, Justin Rodzen and his wife Lilly, and their daughter Winnie, Miriam, Amelia and Haley Nemeth, Zachary, Caleb and Jacob Auclair, Russell Gunther, Michelle Horsfield and her husband Eric, and Alyssa Gunther; and her Dimmock family. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest L. Dimmock, Jr.; and her brother, Russell C. Gunther and his wife Harriet. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM at the United Congregational Church of Tolland, 45 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT. Burial will follow the service at Grove Hill Cemetery, Rockville, CT.
