Edward Formeister's Obituary
Edward Formeister, 99, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. He was born in East Hartford, CT, son of the late Alexander and Stefania (Jeronka) Formeister. He joined the United States Coast Guard during World War II and served in the Pacific area for over four years. Ed retired as a Connecticut State Police Captain after 26 years of service. He served at the Troops in Danielson and Troop C in Stafford as Commander during the 1950s. He was promoted to headquarters Captain in 1961 until retirement in 1966. Ed was a member of the Harvard Associate in Police Science for 52 years. His hobbies were gardening and raising blue berries. He truly will be missed by all. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 65 years, Norma (Ricci) Formeister; two sons, Frank Formeister and his wife Joan, and James Formeister and his wife Jampa; six wonderful grandchildren, Jessica Formeister and her fiancé Jesse Carrieri, Jenna Cormier and her husband Brian, and Alyssa, Jeffrey, Marc, and Eric Formeister; and many kind nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, with a procession forming by 9 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Edward Church, High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Tuesday from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
