Edward F. Kominski Sr.'s Obituary
Edward F. Kominski, Sr., 82, of Ashford, CT, husband of the late Veronica (Hnath) Kominski, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 following a long battle with the complications of a stroke he suffered in 2012. He was the son of the late John F. Kominski, Sr. and Sophie (Gosier) Kominski. Eddy was born in Stafford, CT, and grew up on the family farm in Staffordville, CT. He graduated from Stafford High School in 1950, where he was active in sports and the arts. He was very popular among his classmates and teachers. He resided in Ashford, CT and was employed by the University of Connecticut Floriculture Department, as well as Stafford Conservatories for over 40 years, and was well loved by his coworkers for his willingness to help and cheerful disposition. He was a lifelong Red Sox fan, and in his later years, an avid golfer. Eddy is survived by his daughter, Judith Banas and her husband Ted; son, Edward F. Kominski, Jr.; daughter, Jacqueline Grant; three grandchildren, Lee Valencia, Jacqueline Valencia, and Alex Banas; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven siblings, Joseph, Reuben, Walter, Steve, and John Kominski, and Bertha Guay and Annie Farr. Eddy will be remembered as a hardworking man who was devoted to his wife and children. Eddy’s family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the kind and compassionate care provided by Evergreen Health Care Center in Stafford and the Visiting Nurse and Health Services of Connecticut. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 10 A.M. at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 64 Pompey Hollow Rd., Ashford, CT. Burial will follow in St. Philip Cemetery, Ashford, CT. Calling hours are on Friday, April 10, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT.
