Elmer F. Hartenstein Jr.'s Obituary
With family by his side, Elmer Francis Hartenstein, Jr., passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, parting from Jean S. Hartenstein, the love of his life for more than 65 years. He is survived by his daughter, Jill D. Carlson and her husband Robert Carlson, son, Tracy Hartenstein, and grandsons, Tucker Carlson and Garrett Carlson. Also surviving Elmer are his brother, Richard Hartenstein and his wife Lois Hartenstein, and sister, Nancy Ravetto and her husband James Ravetto. He was predeceased by his sisters, Diane Hartenstein and Jane H. Slater. He had many nieces and nephews along with numerous close friends. Elmer served in The United States Army Infantry during the Korean Conflict. He spent his professional career in aviation mechanics and then in communications with Valley Communications in Chicopee, MA. Elmer had a full and active life. He grew up in Rockville and was a longtime resident of Staffordville, CT. He was a lifelong railroad man, whether it was Lionel model trains or the real thing. He was a member of The Connecticut Society of Ferroequinologists, where he had many good friends. He also loved to travel with his wife, family and friends, spend time with his grandsons, or just be with the people he enjoyed. Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stafford Historical Society, 5 Spring St., Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
