Freeman F. Patten II's Obituary
Freeman F. Patten, II, 92 of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016. He was born in Hackensack, NJ, son of the late Parley and Mildred (Read) Patten. Freeman served in the United States Army during World War II in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division. He participated in Operation Torch in North Africa, the Battle of Sicily, and the Normandy D-Day assault in June, 1944, and was awarded two Purple Hearts. His career began during the period of early computer development and continued in that field until his retirement. During his retirement he took great pleasure in his hobbies which included furniture making in his workshop, golfing, and sailing. Freeman is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Carolyn (Arnold) Patten; two daughters, Celinda Patten Van Voorhis and her husband Gary, and Cathy Patten Dwyer and her husband Robert; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Carolyn (Lyn) Patten. Services with burial in Stafford Springs Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT, will be held privately for family and friends.
