George P. Nagy's Obituary
George P. Nagy, 99, of Ashford, CT, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 in the comfort of his home. He was born in Ashford, son of the late Gustav and Gizella (Bashnak) Nagy. George worked as a tool grinder at Pratt & Whitney for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Church, where he sang in the choir for over 60 years. He was also a former Selectman and member of the Board of Finance for the Town of Ashford, but he was best known for cooking chicken for the Ashford Volunteer Fire Department barbeques. George is survived by his son, Gerald Nagy; two grandchildren, Carrie McCandlish and her husband Scott, and Katherine Timmons; three great grandchildren, Maia, Corrine and Liam, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Thelma (Cushman) Nagy; three brothers, Frank, John and Milo Nagy; and his sister, Gizella Nagy. A calling hour will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021, from 10 AM to 11 AM, with a funeral service beginning at 11 AM at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial in St. Philip Cemetery, Ashford, CT, will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Ashford Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1, Ashford, CT 06278.
