Glyn R. Holmes, 90, of Stafford Springs, CT and formerly of Wilton, CT passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at UConn John Dempsey Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born in London, England, daughter of the late James and Read Obituary

Glyn and I met at Four Seasons Racquet Club in Wilton.
She was a avid player. I always admired her graciousness. After a long day of playing tennis she would invite many of us back to her house for dinner, what amazed me was her freezer was filled with lovely small oval AuGratin dishes with gourmet food. Presto!! dinner was served!
I always thought Brian was so lucky to have someone that was such a good cook.
We remained friends throughout the years. I moved to Branford and she to Stafford Springs. The distance set us apart, but we spoke on the phone almost every day.

From Joan Gooding in England: Glyn & I were cousins & grew up in Luton & London. She was one of my bridesmaids when I married in 1950. We stayed in touch over the years & visited each other. I remember a "mystery tour" we took together with Glyn's good friend, Josie & my friend Pat...after a long drive we ended up at the casino. Glyn & Josie coached Pat & me on how to gamble & later we feasted on enormous counters of food at the casino buffet! Then on the way home drove through a raging storm with crashing thunder & lightning & debris flying around. We got thoroughly soaked when we left the car to run inside the house. We kept in touch by phone & email, during COVID, sharing clever & amusing videos. We shared some good laughs. That is how I will remember my lovely cousin. RIP my very dear Glyn. Glyn was a loving caring person. We shared a special friendship enjoying each other’s company at the bridge table , casino and bday celebrations.

My favorite times with Glyn were with our bridge group, Beverly and Gail at Glyn’s house. We played on Tuesday afternoons. We knew not to schedule anything else on Tuesdays. We could say anything to each other. It was therapy for us with bridge squeezed in too. Charlie always greeted us at the door. After Glyn moved, she and I continued our therapy sessions on the phone. I will miss her. Previously, we had good times playing bridge on Sundays with Genevieve and Sylvia.
I admit, I have always believed in fairy godmothers. I had to go to the eye doctor Friday. His parking lot is always very crowded. When I drove in, and saw the very closest parking space empty, I immediately thought of Glyn. She was looking out for me. I love you, Glyn.
Will always remember the great times we had together on the tennis courts in Wilton. Also the funny and creative ways we celebrated each others birthdays. For Josie we all dressed up as old ladies and for Glyn's we all dressed up as little girls. We laughed so much when we would play trivial pursuit with Brian, Dick, Josie my husband Pierre and myself. The fun part of that game was when the women would team up against the men and we would find every way possible to cheat but even then the men would always beat us but we would laugh our heads off. Thanks Glyn for all the joyous memories, for your laughter and for our long conversations on the phone after I moved to California. Say hi to Pierre in heaven for me. I will carry the fond memories in my heart always. Love you, Stella
Glyn was a part of my life as a loving friend for 50 years . We shared many wonderful times together at the bridge table, at the Casino and at many Happy Birthday dinners . She loved her animals who she adopted and pampered.
