Helen (Malack) Allen, 75, of Mansfield, CT and formerly of Willington, CT, beloved wife of the late Michael Allen, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs, CT. She was born in Willing Read Obituary
Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of Helen. I knew Helen from the Mansfield Senior Center, and we became fast friends. We would meet for lunch, and, sometimes, she would visit me at home. We both loved to knit and crochet, and would share our stories concerning these. Unfortunately, I am not able to make tomorrow due to work, but will be there in spirit, as I will never forget Helen. God bless you all.
Helen was a good friend and extremely helpful while I was Coordinator at the Mansfield Senior Center. She also participated in a group called "Sages" and all members send their sincere sympathy even though most cannot get to Stafford Springs tomorrow.

Helen was a very special person, friend and co-worker who I will not forget. After officially retiring from Federal Service at our agency, and realizing the tremendous need for processing the ongoing financial services work necessary in day to day operations, being highly dedicated and committed, Helen came back daily and voluntarily for almost two more years, providing invaluable guidance, training and assistance in the budget and accounting department. Also, she and Mike enjoyed the fresh vegetables I would bring her from our farm,- particulary the big stuffing peppers and loads of butternut winter squash which she shared at the Senior Center. Despite many years apart, she made the effort to keep in touch regularly, calling only recently to check on me. I am truly sorry for her passing so suddenly. My prayer now is for her peaceful rest and our good memories remain.
I would like to extend my deepest condolences. Helen was part of the SCS/NRCS family and was sort of a mentor to those of us who started many years after. Because of women like her who paved the way, things were - and are - easier for the rest of us. She was a very caring person (not to mention a great cook ... no one who worked with her can forget holiday time when the buzz of the office was "Helen made tassies.") Here's to a wonderful woman who will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to all of you. We were friends for 47 years. Helen and Mike were married on my wedding anniversary. I stood up for them. I saw Helen and Mike every summer even after I moved to West Palm Beach. I will truly miss Helen.
