From the time I was a small child I have loved Helen dearly. She was our neighbor on East Main Street and was very special to me; I was always tagging along with her. We gardened and then I would help her arrange the flowers at the Congregational Church which was a devotional she did for years, we went for rides, went for walks with her dog Lucky and had afternoon tea more times that I can recall. She was fun-loving and a wealth of information on our American history and time spent with her was always an interesting lesson learned. To this day I have cherished reminders of Helen, a beautiful silver necklace which was actually Mrs. Boardman's (Helen's mother), antique pottery she gave to me as gifts through the years, but the most treasured are two paintings hanging in my home which were painted in her later years. Helen was not only special to me she was a dear friend of my mothers and I regret that at the present time I am unable to leave my mother long enough to make the trip up to attend her funeral but I am sure Helen would understand.
