Janice Elizabeth (Gavett) DeFoe, 90, of Enfield, CT, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, after a long illness. Janice made a difference in the lives of many young people as a second-grade teacher at Hazardv Read Obituary
We always had a wonderful time with Aunt Janice and Uncle Frank. From stopping when I was a child on our way to visit family in Portland and South Portland to going there as and adult with my children. I remember going to Uncle Herbert's farm with her and Nana Farnham. She was a lot of fun being around and my dad Edward Ireland thought the world of her. RIP you will always be in my heart.

Heartfelt condolences to you, Steve, Donna, Sara, & Family...I'll remember Aunt Janice with a gracious attitude, common sense approach & wonderful sense of humor; & her kindness to my Brother Dave when he was in a nursing home, & how he cherished Aunt Janice as the dear aunt she was. I'm thinking She, Uncle Frani, my Mom, Dad, Dave & other beloved family members who have passed on are all dancing to "At the Hop," as we did all those Christmas Eves, swimming in the pool & celebrating birthdays...Love, Carol
My sister and I were lucky to grow up with this wonderful woman as our across-the-street neighbor. I remember hanging out with her cat, Tilly; receiving the luxury of full-size candy bars while trick-or-treating on our quiet street; swimming in her backyard; and all of the amazing baked goods she'd make for us. (We always looked forward to her call to come pick up a cake or cobbler that was still warm from the oven.) Janice was so friendly and caring, and she always went the extra mile to treat us like family. My parents, my sister, and I will all miss her. May she rest in peace.

Steven I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. She was a wonderful lady. I remember sitting in the basement helping her correct papers while our parents were visiting and talking about the Post Office. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
