Jean Rivers' Obituary
Jean P. Rivers, 72, of Willington, CT, died Monday, July 10, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT, after a short illness. She was the beloved wife of Everett Rivers, who predeceased her on December 13, 2003. Jean was born in the Bronx, NY on August 4, 1933, daughter of the late Joseph Petrone and Carmella (Fusco) Petrone. The family moved to Stafford Springs in 1937, where her father was employed as chief electrician for the Johnson Woolen Mills. She graduated from Hall Memorial School in Willington, and Windham High School in Willimantic. She worked until her death in the Registrars Office at the University of Connecticut in Storrs. Jean was a beloved mother to her surviving children, John Rivers of Willington, CT, Loretta Rivers of East Hartford, CT, and Susan (Rivers) Adams of Keene, NH. She was passionate about the things she cared about most; music, dancing, travel, and her extended family and friends. Jean is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Al Reale of Port Charlotte, FL, and sister-in-law, Shirley (Rivers) Spooner of Windsor Locks, CT. In addition, she is survived by her cousins Frank and Elsie Hopf of Southbury, CT, Gloria Gallo of New York City, and Jim and Gloria Murray of Los Angeles, CA. A funeral will be held on Friday, July 14, 2006, with a procession forming at 9 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Edward Church, High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
