rest in peace
I just found out that Kathy died in 2008. After searching for her obituary for some time I found it. We did not have a good relationship at the end of 1998 when my mother, her former mother-in-law, but it doesn't matter now. After reading the tribute from her co-workers about the motorcycles I do remember her as she rode with my brother. You are all right in that Kathy was a little wild, my mother thought she was a little too wild, but in time they became very good friends, even after my brother and she divorced. Kathy was tough and very proud. She could be abrasive and quick-tempered, but that was Kathy. I was a lot younger than my brother and Kathy, but they took me with them when they rode around in convertibles or the MG they bought. They were pretty good to the little brat of a sister. I wish things hadn't turned out like they did, but God has a reason for everything. I have said a prayer for her and her family and hope that she is at peace. Kathy was there for my dad when he had lung cancer in 1983. She was there for me and my mother when he died on Father's Day. I never forgot that even though we never spoke after my mother's death in 1998. I knew Barbra and all the kids and wish them all well. I know this is late in coming, but I wanted to leave this tribute. Darlene Gallahan (Chalue).
Kisses to Heaven~ Today we sent a kiss to Heaven and we are encouraging all of you to try. For we have shared this with you because you have had a loved one die. This kiss came from deep inside and we know that it truly was received. Right after we had sent our kisses a calming breeze surrounded us. Not only that, a wind chime rang, from where we do not know, but we felt the loved one smile down at us and said that they love us so. So please take a kiss within your hands and look up to the sky, release that kiss with loving care but please try not to cry. Once your kiss is off to them, into Heaven's gate above, just look for any single sign, from your precious love.
God Bless you and your family
Love Always,
Craig, Angela and Austin Herold
To Kathy's Family,
It's been a long and difficult journey for you all, particularly these last few months of Kathy's illness. I want to thank you all for the love, support and care you have all given to my friend. I know that it's been especially hard on you, Mike, as it was you who cared for her 24 hours a day and through her most difficult moments. And for you, Barbra, her dear sister whom she loved and depended on so much.
Kathy was such a unique and interesting individual... whenever "the girls" got together, we used to love to hear her stories of youthful escapades, particularly the "motorcycle mama" years! Her life always seemed so interesting to us....particularly the younger ones of the group. They had only known her as a fellow employee, and by evening's end, all wished that they had known this beautiful, gently wild, fun-loving, smart young cookie that came out in her stories of her youth!
Kathy was also tough, and she HAD to be tough; as one of the first professional women in the world of jet engine manufacturing, she had to be smarter, tougher and far more tenacious than any of her peers. She rarely "held her tounge" when she was passionate about a work situation, but because she was most often right, it was never held against her and she was highly respected for her knowledge and hard work. It is a wonderful testimonial to her that she was employed at P&WA for 40 years !!!!
Kathy was also a friend who was generous to a fault. She showered her friends with gifts, entertainment and affection (and yes, occasionally a "tounge-lashing"). We loved her. I personally am choosing to hold an image in my mind to remember Kathy by. She's laughing...she's healthy... she's riding that motoorcycle with the wind blowing in her hair...on her way to a heavenly casino....you know, the one where everyone always hits the jackpot !!!!
God Bless you, Kathy, we will miss you.
Love,
BJ
