My health has prevented me from posting anything until now, but I miss Maria terribly. My family became close to her and her late husband, Roman, in 1969, when I was four years old, and we had recently arrived in the United States after leaving Poland. My entire childhood and adult life is filled with memories of her. She was much more like an aunt for me than a family friend. When my health allowed it, I was in touch with her by email shortly before she died. She was more courageous than most people could undersand, so kind, and so cultured in such a down to earth and way.
