When Bernice and I were little kids we took tap dancing lessons and every weekend our father and mother would take us to visit Midge & Ray when they lived on Converse St. Each week mother always insisted on us showing them just how light footed we weren't by dancing on Midge's kitchen floor. Being the loving, kind, gentle soul she was, Midge always praised us and smiled right on through each performance.
It wasn't until last year sometime while I was visiting Midge and Ray at Evergreen that we recalled those visits and Midge shared that she always had to put tongue in cheek for those performances because it was every Friday that she washed and waxed her kitchen floor and the very next day, there we were, scuffing it up.
As we laughed about it all we recalled how important it is to be able to overlook the trivial issues of life, like scuff marks, and focus on the bonds of family and friends that truly symbolize Gods' love in our lives. It is the matters of the heart that matter most.....
Midge was truly a shining example of Gods' love at work in our lives to all who knew her.
You traveled your road well, Midge, and even though you couldn't see it, you danced your way through a lot of hearts on this earth, mine included. Dance on, lady, and don't worry about the scuff marks. There are none where you are.
God Bless and rest your soul till we meet again...
