Marlene Hurchala's Obituary
Marlene J. Hurchala, 69, of Stafford Springs, CT, left this world a better place on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Kimberly Hall, Windsor, CT. Born in Caribou, ME, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Alice (Tardiff) Beaupre. Coming to Connecticut as a young girl, Marlene graduated Stafford High School and soon thereafter married her husband John. As a young mother, Marlene worked part time at Johnson Memorial Hospital as a receptionist. Having a knack for caring for people, she embarked on becoming an LPN when her children were in their teenage years. She worked very hard balancing her family and schoolwork and succeeded on becoming a nurse. She worked for 25 years, her entire nursing career, at Windham Community Hospital before she retired. Marlene also worked for the VNA of Enfield for a couple of years after retirement. Marlene enjoyed her Vermont weekends with family and friends, gardening, caring for others and 'outfitting' John. She enjoyed having the family holidays at her house. She was also a member of St. Edward Parish. Marlene (Gussy Girl) leaves her loving husband of 51 years, John S. Hurchala Jr., her three children; Renee Moreau and her husband William of Tolland, CT, Steven Hurchala and his wife Louise of Somers, and Shelley West and her husband Kevin of Stafford Springs; and eight grandchildren, who affectionately called her 'MeMe', Erica, Rachel, and Christopher Moreau, Samuel and Benjamin Hurchala and Nicholas, Eric, and Melissa West. She leaves two brothers, Richard Beaupre and his wife Arline of Stafford Springs, CT and Galen Beaupre and his wife Sandra of Rockville, CT; a sister-in-law Lorraine Holland and her husband David of Stafford Springs. She also leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins (the 7) and special friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Denise Leigh. Her celebration of life will be held Monday, August 4, 2008, with a procession forming by 9 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Edward Church, High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Sunday from 2-5 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Edward School Memorial Fund, 6 Benton St., Stafford Springs, CT 06076, or to the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter, 279 New Britain Rd., Kensington, CT 06037.
