Michelle E. Bouley's Obituary
On August 21, 2025 Michelle Elizabeth Bouley went to heaven while surrounded by loved ones. The daughter of John and Catherine Bouley, Michelle was born on January 24, 1973, and led a very full life of service to others. A graduate of East Catholic High School and Mount Saint Mary College, she also earned a master's degree from Columbia University's Teachers College. Her life of service included time in the Peace Corps, where she started the first special education program on the island of Grenada; VISTA, where she instructed women in Tennessee on breast cancer awareness; and social worker for an Inuit tribe in Alaska. She also worked at Camp Huntington in High Falls, NY, a summer camp for adults with special needs, and spent the last half of her life teaching special education in Florida. She was a free spirit who traveled the world and felt at home wherever she was. Her heart of gold will be missed by her brother Matthew, sister Kylie, nieces Julia and Mia and their mother Megumi, aunts Mary Ellen, Emily, Jane, Sandra, Patricia, Rosemary, Lynn; uncles Armand, Robert, Prairie, Mike, Algot; longtime companion Travis Lucia; and countless cousins, friends and students all over the world. She is predeceased by her mother, Doreen Messeck, and uncles, Peter Bouley, Tom Blanchette, Tom Clark and Rick Messeck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Matthew Church, 111 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT. Burial in St. Bernard Cemetery, Vernon, CT, will be held privately. Donations in memory of Michelle can be made to Outreach to Haiti, 815 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT 06360.
