Neil J. Almquist's Obituary
Neil J. Almquist, 80, of Vernon, CT, formerly of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Hartford, CT, son of the late Albin and Cecelia (Rustic) Almquist. Neil was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam era. He retired from the Hartford Courant, working in pre press ads for 25 years. He then worked for several years in the Town of Stafford school system. Neil always enjoyed Polka and couponing. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Frances (Scott) Almquist; seven children, Mary Ann, Therese, Margaret, and Angel Almquist, Catherine Gibson and her husband Jamie, Joseph Almquist and his wife Melissa, and Bridget Almquist and her husband Daniel Zuchegna; 22 grandchildren; and a great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his grandson, Jonathan Clavette. A calling hour will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
