Nello "Butch" M. Spallacci Jr.'s Obituary
Nello M. “Butch” Spallacci, Jr., 78, of Stafford Springs, CT passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018. He was born in Palmer, MA in 1939, son of the late Nello M. Spallacci, Sr. and Bernice (Columbia) Spallacci. Butch served in the United States Army reserves, and retired in 1997 from the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicle after rising to the rank of Sergeant, having responsibility for managing/leading/overseeing the Auto Anti-Theft unit. Prior to joining the CT DMV, he worked at Backus Motors in Stafford. Butch, Sarg, Spal, Dad, Pops, Nono, Biz Nono, enjoyed watching his UCONN Huskies, Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and NASCAR. As a young father, Butch enjoyed coaching Little League and youth hockey. Once retired, Butch and Alice enjoyed traveling and spent their winters in Daytona Beach Shores, FL. They enjoyed the sunshine and time spent making many friends while staying at Beach Club Condo. Back home, Butch and Alice enjoyed relaxing and taking care of their beautiful home where they lived and raised their family since 1968. They loved entertaining friends and family alike there. Butch and Alice where high school sweethearts, married for 53 years until Alice was taken suddenly while in Florida in the spring of 2013. Butch continued to visit Florida with family every year for short vacations, visiting the many friends he and Alice made over the years, but it was never quite the same without the love of his life by his side. After Alice’s passing, Butch continued to enjoy his family and to support them as he always had. He particularly loved to check in daily on his grandson’s local business, Alpine Tree. Butch is survived by his two children, Tina Spallacci and Tony Spallacci and his wife Carol (Pippin) Spallacci of Stafford, CT; four grandchildren, Nicole (Spallacci) Fleming and her husband Ryan Fleming, Stephen Spallacci and his fiancé Christina Algozzini, and Chrissy and Eric Bulakites; four great-grandchildren, Brianna, Jace, Adelia, and Max; a brother, Danny Spallacci and his companion Doreen; two sisters-in-law, Helen Ranta and Carol Bunker; a brother-in-law, David VanKleeck and his wife Merry; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to mention several very special friends that were so important to Butch and Alice over the years, John and Janet Calchera of Stafford, CT, Carl Girasoli of Franklin, CT, George and Nancy Medynski of Canada, Ron and Deb Humes of Indiana, Bud and Jo Bullock of Florida, George Pippin of Stafford, CT, and the extended group of friends they met in Florida. You will never know what the love and support has meant to Butch and the family. Also, thank you to the many healthcare providers that provided such genuine TLC during a very difficult time with his swift but difficult battle with cancer.
