Robert V. Keirans' Obituary
Robert V. Keirans, 84, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Bob attended the local schools, then went to the University of Connecticut, where he graduated in 1965, with a degree in Spanish. He served four years in the United States Navy. After graduating from the Navy School of Music, he served in the Flag Division on board the guided missile cruiser in Boston, MA, then later at Cinclant Headquarters in Norfolk, VA. Bob worked at the UConn Bookstore as a State of Connecticut employee, then later in Hartford at the State office building. There he worked in the Insurance Department. He later transferred to the Education Department, and worked as a purchasing officer. When Bob retired from the State, he went to work at Barnes and Noble Bookstore in Enfield, CT, where he retired in 2006. Bob always enjoyed the ocean. He made a Mediterranean cruise while in the Navy, and later he sailed on windjammers throughout the Caribbean. Travel was always an adventure to him, and he traveled extensively. He especially liked train travel. Bob belonged to several organizations in Stafford. Among those were the Stafford Historical Society, American Legion Post No. 26, and the Stafford Conservation Society. He also assisted at book fairs at the Stafford Library. Bob played piano and once a week played at Evergreen Health Care Center. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many dear friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents, John W. Keirans and Gertrude (Quinn) Keirans, his brother, Jack Keirans, and sisters, Jane (Keirans) Porterfield, and Barbara (Keirans) Welling. A calling hour will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 9:30-10:30 AM at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, CT.
