Ron was a gentle, kind, thoughtful and caring man. I loved his sense of humor and will never forget his laugh. His joy for children was natural and obvious, and they loved him. I remember Ron in those good days in his unique hat walking up Amidon Drive or rowing quietly on the lake then stopping to say hello. I felt delinquent in not knowing the UConn Women's Basketball team more when he knew and loved them so much. I would like to have made more conversation with that. We did share stories of working in tobacco and other things. Mostly, I remember that he wasn't a showy man, and I can still see him casually taking the time to talk with everyone at his 70th and 80th birthday parties. He could make us all feel special. There is so much more to say. The world is a better place for having had him in it. My heart goes out to his very close family. Your loss is clearly beyond words. Ron was a gift.
