Samuel Marcel Tharp's Obituary
Samuel Marcel Tharp, 21, of Willington, CT, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 30, 2018. He was born in Waterbury, CT, loving son of David and Michelle (Belleville) Tharp. Sam was currently a student at Eastern Connecticut State University as well as a member of Connecticut National Guard Charlie Company 1st BN, 102D INF Reg. Additionally, he earned the revered honor of Eagle Scout, a distinction only 4% of Boy Scouts achieve. Sam exemplified all the characteristics of a natural born leader and a well-mannered gentleman. He exuded kindness in his actions and thoughtfulness in his words. No matter where he was going or what he was doing, Sam always remembered to say I love you to his family, whom he cherished beyond measure. A true older brother, Sam was lovingly protective of his siblings William and Grace. They were always his priority; their relationship has been tied with special bonds of love, respect and deep compassion. Recreationally, Sam loved riding his motorcycle, skiing, playing rugby and football, and fishing. He enjoyed a good bonfire with his boys Josh, Chris, Chase, Ben, Owen, Brad, Blake, Mike, Josh, Jon and Greg. Some of Sam’s best memories included camping under the stars and swimming at Uncle Tom’s beach. Lemonheads, Heath Bars, and Key Lime Pies were among Sam’s favorite sugary snacks. A fan of all music genres, Sam enjoyed listening to it as loud as possible, some say in the hopes of drowning out those who dared to sing along! Beside his parents and his two siblings, Sam is survived by his maternal grandmother, Lorraine Belleville; paternal grandparents Marshal and Helen Tharp; girlfriend Olivia; dear friends Emma and Josh; beloved cat Boo; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins and a community of friends. Sam was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Marcel Belleville. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 3 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by Military Honors. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boy Scouts Troop 82, 70 Trask Rd, Willington, CT 06279, Eastern Connecticut Rugby Brothers Fund c/o ECSU Foundation, 83 Windham St Willimantic, CT 06226 or the E.O.
