Richard and family,
Shirley was a devoted wife, very caring and loving to her children. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. Her friends were many, and she was a devoted christian. My parents Thelma and Norman were Shirley's Aunt and Uncle. Norman was her mother Emily's only brother. Cousin Shirley was a little older than I was and closer to my brother Norman in age. I remember gathering around the "player piano" at Aunt Emily's house at Christmas and all singing together. As a child I was always a bit bratty as they say and they all said it but Shirley was always kind to me. When I was 14 or 15 I was a bridesmaid in her wedding and remember feeling included and special that day. As we got together in later years (weddings, landmark birthdays) we always enjoyed reuniting. She had that way of just smiling and sort of giggling at her three crazy cousins' antics. Come to think of it she had the same response to Marilyn too. Kind of like she did not know what to do with us. We are a family based on English humor...it's done quietly and easy to miss if you are not paying attention (and she paid attention). Shirley was a good sport, a good Christian woman and had a serenity about her that was easy to observe. I know you all will miss her presence as will I. She is at peace now with those that have gone before.
Jeff and Dave,
I am so sorry for your loss.Your mother was a warm and kind woman. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Samantha
