Sylvia M. Works' Obituary
Sylvia M. Works, 88, of Stafford Springs, CT, left her loving family to be with the Lord on June 28, 2024. Sylvia was born on May 30, 1936, in Benton, Maine. Sylvia was a beautiful soul who was always gentle and kind. She loved the beach and enjoyed her trips to relax and take in the sound of the waves. She loved excursions to the casino and her weekly BINGO nights, lighthouses, and red cardinals, and would often collect trinkets of both. Sylvia also enjoyed watching UCONN Women’s basketball. Mostly, Sylvia loved her family dearly and was a very proud mother of her four boys. Sylvia celebrated every time a new grandbaby was born into the family by bringing her beautiful silver bracelet to the jewelry store to purchase a head charm. She would then have it engraved with the name and birthdate of the newest member of her family. She wore it proudly to many special events. Sylvia, otherwise known as “Cookie Grammy” by many of her grandchildren, will be fondly missed. She earned the special name “Cookie Grammy” when she would always show up for visits with cookies in hand. The kids would look forward to her arrival wondering what treat she would have for them. Sylvia loved hearing all the amazing things her grandchildren were up to. Sylvia leaves behind her four sons, Robert Murray and his wife Kathleen, Raymond Murphy and his wife Becky, Charles Murphy, and Timothy Murphy and his wife Pam; grandchildren, Tashima Oats, Aaron Murray, Adam Murray, Casandra Dixon, Erin Murphy, Ashley Nelson, Emily Mooers, Madison Murphy, and Anna Murphy; and many great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Stafford Springs Cemetery, Monson Rd., Stafford Springs, CT. The family would like to thank all her loving caregivers at Evergreen Health Care Center. Memorial donations may be made to Flo’s Friendship Kitchen, 8 Church St., Stafford Springs, CT 06076. Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., Stafford Springs, CT, has care of the arrangements. To leave a condolence online for the family, please visit: www.introvignefuneralhome.com
