Theodore J. Urbanski, 73, of Willington, passed on August 5, 2022 after a battle with brain cancer. He was born in Holyoke, MA, and was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Marion (Wilson) Urbanski, brother, George, sister-in- Read Obituary
We were very saddened to learn of Teds passing. He was one of the most knowledgeable people on Civil war events and a pleasure to speak with. I learned a great deal from him in the time we were in his Signal Corps and we were able to attend many events with the group I may never have heard of without being in the group. Ted Urbanski introduced me to the wonderful crew of the USS Massachusetts and invited my father and me to join her Living History Group. He taught me the basics of flag semaphore, and we worked together to entertain Cub Scouts on their sleepovers aboard ship. RIP Mr. Urbanski. You will be missed. Sue, so very sorry to hear of Ted’s passing. David loved his conversations with him at Starbucks on Sundays. They often shared their military experiences. Ted always recommended great historical books. He will be missed.
Sue and family Cathy and I are so sorry to here of Ted's passing. Ted hired me as a night shift custodian in 1993 at Suffield Public Schools. He was a great boss to work for and kind and gentle man. We shared a common bond of both being US Navy enlisted men. I loved to hear the stories and enthusiasm Ted shared about his reenactment events. On hot summer days I often remember how we worked in the schools cleaning and preparing them for the next school year. Cathy remembers how Ted and Sue helped her with her dog ASTRO.

There are only a few men in the reenacting hobby that have had a significant personal impact on me. Ted was one of those men. Brilliant in his impressions, kind and gentle of heart and spirit, patient and welcoming, and an educator of unmatched enthusiasm. I will miss our long talks and the steady stream of emails with attachments and reading recommendations. Most of all I will miss the “dispatches from the war office”, each artfully written and hand delivered straight from the “telegraph station”. I grieve with his family and pray that God grants you strength and comfort as you deal with this loss. I also celebrate with you with the knowledge that Ted is home with his Lord, restored of mind and body for all eternity.

I´m so sorry to hear about Ted´s passing. I have such fond memories of him in his Confederate uniform as he attended our 5th grade Civil War Day each year. It was Ted who helped me start the annual event. He was always so kind and loved to talk about his research into soldiers. May you Rest In Peace, Ted.

Ted and Sue were our mentors many years ago as we began therapy work with our dogs Ginger and Nutmeg. Ted was the perfect example of good natured love and care in our first nursing home visit, and we will be forever grateful. He could bring a smile to anyone’s face. I hope he meets our Nutmeg running loose through the corridors of Heaven, and that she brings a smile to his.

Very sad to hear of Ted's passing. He was an outstanding and positive guy. He loved living history and working with kids for our programs on the USS Massachusetts.
