Vincent Greika's Obituary
Vincent P. Greika, 83, of Staffordville, CT, husband of the late Phyllis (Kotarba) Greika, passed away on his wife’s birthday, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT after a short illness. He was born in Stafford, CT, son of the late Anthony and Rosalia (Melnicka) Greika. Vincent was educated in the Stafford school system. After having served in the U.S. Army during World War II, he was employed by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft as a machinist for 29 years until retirement. “A man about town”, Vincent enjoyed his walks around Stafford and surrounding hamlets. His kind heart, giving nature, and rascally sense of humor, were well known throughout the community. Vincent is survived by his three children, Gordon Greika and his wife Sharon, and Kenneth Greika, all of Stafford Springs, CT, and Brenda Greika of Montpelier, VT; five grandchildren, Chris, Jesse, Luke, Hillary, and Rachel; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Nellie Salvador; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Gregory Greika; five brothers; and two sisters. A calling hour will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 10-11 A.M. with a funeral service to take place at 11 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Memorial donations may be made to Community Renewal Team, Inc., Meals on Wheels Program, 555 Windsor St., Hartford, CT 06120.
