Just returning to school to find out about Bill's untimely passing.
He and I have known each other since 1996, when I first cane to Somers. He was a delight. I knew Bill as a most down-to-earth man who had a great sense of humor. He always treated others with respect and he and I would speak often, other times, both of us being in a hurry, we would exchange a brief hello. He was always friendly and I knew he cared deeply for his family. This is truly sad and untimely news. :(

So very sorry to hear about the passing of Bill. I have known him since my arrival to Somers in 2007. i will miss our frank conversations and his innate ability to make the best out of a poor situation. You will be missed. Rest in peace.

I will surely miss our talks, and our shared love of living on a farm. Our last conversation was just last Monday where we laughed about all the "good shows" from the 70's, both of us trying hard to remember them all. His memory was much better than mine!! What I most remember though, is his love for his family. He would tear up every time he spoke of his son, and light up every time he spoke of his grandkids. I am so sorry for your loss. Praying you find peace and comfort.

Marlene...I for the second time with you..just am having trouble finding words...the first was when both Doug and I were with you and Billy right after you lost your son..Having been through the very same nightmare we all just plain "understood" each other..I was heartbroken for you and Billy then and I'm heartbroken for you now. He has been a part of my life since we were kids and his mom before him..Myrtle was my moms friend and became mine. When I opened my laptop that day and saw William Barnett Srs name my heart didn't know what to do and still doesn't as I'm sure it is just awful for you as well and worse. I'm so very sorry this happened to your family yet again and please don't hesitate to call me if you need something or even just to yell at someone..I will be there in a heartbeat. I will never stop thinking about Billy and he certainly will never be forgotten. He was a great great friend.

During the years Bill and I worked together, we shared many adventures. Between painting classrooms and building dugouts, Bill was always a helpful and knowledgeable partner. I'll never forget how we had to plow snow in the wee morning hours. Through it all, Bill was Mr. Friendly to my Mr. Grumpy. Thanks for the memories, my friend. You will be missed always.
